Rejoicing with you! That is wonderful. Those "widow makers" are sudden and finding it prior THE OCCURENCE is such a blessing! I am sooo glad your dad is doing so well. The bypass along with anesthesia takes a while to wear off. Praying for quick healing and many more years with you!
Tell your dad we all say Hello and will continue to pray for him!

Before surgery, I told my dad what I had posted here asking for prayer . . . and today (about a half hour ago) I told him how the prayer warriors on this site were praying for him . . . he is so grateful and thankful for everyone here!!! I also want to add my thankfulness for everyone here! Some may say that the internet is so impersonal, I disagree! It is a wonderful blessing that can be used to the Glory of God Almighty!!!!
P.S. I was able to "witness" to the Chaplain that came to talk to my sister and I when Dad was in surgery. He was from Nigeria and was not very articulate. He stumbled around talking about that it is a sad time (NOT) and that it was expected that we should be fearful (NOT, NOT, NOT!)
I told him our family had no sadness or fear, that we KNOW that Jesus Christ IS THE MESSIAH and that we we KNOW whatever happened, that Dad would be healed, whether physically, or would instantly be in the Presence of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as we all had accepted the free gift of Salvation the Lord Jesus provided with His Death and Resurrection. So, it was really not a sad day, and we were not fearful. We were all at peace.
The "Chaplain's" eyes got kinda big . . . and he said he had never heard something like this come from family members with a loved one in surgery! I then asked him what he believed.
He said he was in "seminary" to become a priest (catholic . . . yeah . . . ) but he wasn't sure, as his family in Nigeria (Baptist and Presbyterian) keep telling him he's wrong. I told him, you need to listen to your family and follow the Lord Jesus Christ's leading, not the leading of religion or doctrine, or anyone who was paying for his education (he seems to be here under a scholarship program.) He said he would.
Please pray for this Chaplain . . . I can't spell his name, but I think his first name is Ido.

Dad is free of all tubes in his body (btw . . . chest tube are quite painful when removed!!!)
He is having trouble eating, no food appeals to him . . . he has never been a heavy eater, taking a pill to eat would be just fine with him . . . pray for his appetite!
My sister and I are working out a schedule so one of us can be with him 24/7 for the first two weeks when he comes home. Please pray for continuing agree-ability of our respective employers to allow each of us to work from our dad's house a few days a week. This is key for my sister's and my continued employment!!!

Glad to hear of your dad's progress. Chest tube-- OW!
After my dad had the same kind of surgery; it took a while for his appetite to come back. I'll say a prayer it comes back soon. Does he like yogurts with maybe a little fruit or lowfat granola on top? I really think the anesthesia does a number on people too. It takes a while for all of it to leave your body too. Plus; dad has been inactive.. less appetite. When he is walking more it should come back.
I'll say a prayer about your work. Certainly they would understand!

I am so blessed to have a Born Again Christian boss that is so accommodating it sometimes makes me feel guilty taking any time off! It only wants to make me work harder to be "worthy" of such a blessing as my boss is to me!!!!
I know that sounds silly, but it's the way I feel!

praying
Praying also for your dad's appetite. I had knee replacement a year ago and for the first time in my adult life...I lost my appetite for several months. Luckily, I had lots of f*t to live off of.
Fruit is the first thing one usually returns to after having no appitite. Have you tried sherbet? I lived off of it..the only thing that sounded good to me!xo
