53,000 Dead Voters Found In Florida

53,000 Dead Voters Found in Florida

May 16, 2012

I have learned that Florida election officials are set to announce that the secretary of state has discovered and purged up to 53,000 dead voters from the voter rolls in Florida.

How could 53,000 dead voters have sat on the polls for so long? Simple. Because Florida hadn’t been using the best available data revealing which voters have died. Florida is now using the nationwide Social Security Death Index for determining which voters should be purged because they have died.

Here is the bad news. Most states aren’t using the same database that Florida is. In fact, I have heard reports that some election officials won’t even remove voters even when they are presented with a death certificate. That means that voter rolls across the nation still are filled with dead voters, even if Florida is leading the way in detecting and removing them.

But surely people aren’t voting in the names of dead voters, the voter fraud deniers argue. Wrong.

43 Catholic Institutions File Suit Against Contraception Mandate

43 Catholic Institutions File Suit Against Obama’s Contraception Mandate

May 21, 2012

Some of the most influential Catholic institutions in the country filed suit against the Obama administration Monday over the so-called contraception mandate, in one of the biggest coordinated legal challenges to the rule to date.

Claiming their “fundamental rights hang in the balance,” a total of 43 plaintiffs filed a dozen separate federal lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the requirement. Among the organizations filing were the University of Notre Dame, the Archdiocese of New York and The Catholic University of America.

The groups are objecting to the requirement from the federal health care overhaul that employers provide access to contraceptive care. The Obama administration several months ago softened its position on the mandate, but some religious organizations complained the administration did not go far enough to ensure the rule would not compel them to violate their religious beliefs.

Americans To Fight In Afghanistan Through 2014

Americans To Fight In Afghanistan Through 2014

May 20, 2012

The commander of NATO-led forces in Afghanistan bluntly warned Sunday that American soldiers will face combat in that war-torn country right up to the time they leave, Dec. 31, 2014. General John Allen told reporters not to buy into a “narrative” that the handover of security responsibilities to Afghan forces next year means U.S. troops will be out of harm’s way.

“Combat operations will continue in the country throughout the period of the remainder of the ISAF mission, which will conclude on the 31st of December, 2014,” Allen, who leads NATO’s International Security Assistance Force, said at a briefing on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Chicago.

The diplomatic gathering aims to flesh out the alliance’s plan to train and equip Afghan national security forces (ANSF) and given them the lead on combat efforts by midway through 2013. But that doesn’t mean Americans won’t be in the line of fire.

Teacher Tells Student He Can Be Arrested For Speaking Against Obama

Update: Teacher Suspended For Telling Student He Could Be Arrested For Talking Badly About Obama

May 20, 2012

Last Monday, a high school student in North Carolina engaged his social studies teacher in a heated debate about politics and the two leading presidential candidates. During the exchange, the teacher (an obvious Obama supporter) got very angry with the student and accused him of disrespecting the president. She even went so far as to tell the boy that he could be jailed for speaking ill of Obama.

Sarah Campbell of the Salisbury Post first reported on the story. She claims that the school district is not releasing the name of the teacher and that she is not responding to requests for public comment (although the two students identified her to the newspaper). According to Campbell’s story, the teacher will not be suspended or even face disciplinary action for what was heard on the recording. A statement from the school was released at the end of the week:

“The Rowan-Salisbury School System expects all students and employees to be respectful in the school environment and for all teachers to maintain their professionalism in the classroom. This incident should serve as an education for all teachers to stop and reflect on their interaction with students. Due to personnel and student confidentiality, we cannot discuss the matter publicly.”

Pricey ‘knowledge generation’ project aims to reduce such conflicts :waaa:

Steve Peacock 5-21-2012

The violence in northern Nigeria is mistakenly viewed as a religious conflict rather than simply a tribal dispute over land, according to the Obama administration.

Despite the ongoing Muslim destruction of churches and the slaughter of Christians – including many murdered during worship services – the U.S. Agency for International Development claims that the misunderstandings make it difficult to administer aid programs.

USAID, therefore, has launched a program titled Project PEACE – an acronym for Programming Effectively Against Conflict and Extremism. {In light of the election of 2008, another type of ‘programming’ comes to mind. Thinking citizens want to know, is this not the very acronym used by CFR’s Rick Warren? Arsenio Hall was fond of saying, “Things that make ya go hmmm.”}***

PEACE says it will hire contractors to help the agency analyze the “true” causes of conflict and consequently provide more effective humanitarian and conflict-resolution assistance, according to planning documents that WND located via database research.

Shoring Up Obama: NAACP Announces Support For Same-Sex Marriage

NAACP Announces Support For Same-Sex Marriage; Shores Up Obama’s Position

May 19, 2012

The NAACP announced Saturday the 103-year-old black civil rights group is supporting same-sex marriage.

The group’s board of directors made the decision at a meeting this weekend, saying it was a “continuation of its historic commitment to equal protection under the law.”

The decision follows President Obama’s recent support of gay marriage, a move that threatened to divide key parts of the Democratic voting base — the gay and black communities.

“The mission of the (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) has always been to ensure political, social and economic equality of all people,” said Roslyn M. Brock, chairman of the board. “We have and will oppose efforts to codify discrimination into law.”

Obama: More teeth needed for Wall Street reforms

Obama: More teeth needed for Wall Street reforms

Published May 19, 2012

Associated Press

President Barack Obama says the big trading loss at JPMorgan Chase shows the need for Congress to put more teeth into Wall Street reforms intended to prevent the practices that led to the 2008 financial meltdown.

The $2 billion loss has renewed calls by Democratic lawmakers for tougher rules on major financial institutions.

“Without Wall Street reform, we could have found ourselves with the taxpayers once again on the hook for Wall Street’s mistakes,” Obama said in his weekly media address Saturday. He added: “We’ve got to finish the job of implementing this reform and putting these rules in place.”

Obama promoted rules that would require big banks or financial institutions to have more cash on hand to cover losses and that would take away big bonuses and paydays from failed CEOs.

The president said financial institutions that “aren’t cheating customers or making risky bets that could damage the whole economy” have nothing to fear from reforms.

“Yes, it discourages big banks and financial institutions from making risky bets with taxpayer-insured money. And it encourages them to do things that actually help the economy — like extending loans to entrepreneurs with good ideas, to middle-class families who want to buy a home, to students who want to pursue higher education,” he said…..

US Aging Air Force – Father & Son Fly Same Aircraft 30 Years Apart

May 18, 2012

Dave Deptula, a retired three-star general, knows the risks associated with flying older aircraft. While serving as the joint task force commander in 1998 and 1999 for Operation Northern Watch, Deptula flew 82 combat missions over Iraq. On one mission, as he was headed to a tanker to refuel, the master caution light came on, revealing a problem with the plane. His fuel gauge went to zero. Meanwhile, he was 500 miles away from his base. Fortunately, he was able to land safely.

“The insulation was so old it simply had deteriorated to the extent where it came off and all of the wiring shorted out,” Deptula recalled. “Those are the kinds of things that happen when airplanes get to certain ages.”

Deptula’s aircraft was grounded for repairs, requiring another set of planes to travel from Kadena Air Force Base in Japan, on other side of the world. It’s not an isolated incident. In the years that followed, the Air Force was forced to ground its entire F-15 fleet in 2007 after one fighter disintegrated during a training mission in Missouri.

New Book: Axelrod Calls Obama Black Jesus

New Book: Axelrod Calls Obama Black Jesus

May 18, 2012

David Axelrod privately calls Barack Obama “Black Jesus,” according to Edward Klein’s fantastic new book, The Amateur (p. 59).

“[Barack Obama] is the living, breathing apotheosis of the American melting pot,” Klein quotes Axelrod as saying.

Axelrod, as we know, isn’t alone. According to Klein, Micah Tillman, lecturer in philosophy at the Catholic University of America, called Obama “the Platonic philosopher king we’ve been looking for the past 2,400 years.” And no less an authority than Oprah has called him “The One.”

So was he born in a manger, too?

Romney closes in on Obama's campaign cash for April

Romney closes in on Obama’s campaign cash for April

05/17/2012 17:07

WASHINGTON – Republican US presidential candidate Mitt Romney raised almost as much money as US President Barack Obama last month, taking in more than $40.1 million in fundraising efforts for his campaign and the Republican National Committee.

Romney’s April contributions, released on Thursday, are three times the amount the presumptive Republican nominee raised in March. The surge comes as other party rivals dropped out, allowing the former Massachusetts governor and business executive to team up with the RNC.

The figures come one day after the Obama campaign disclosed that it and the Democratic National Committee raised $43.6 million in April, a decline from the previous month.

In March, Romney raised $12.6 million compared to Obama’s more than $53 million.
