Temporary Marriage Licenses?

Mexico City considers temporary marriage licenses

Posted 9/30/11 11:59 a.m.

MEXICO CITY (WLS) – Mexico City lawmakers are proposing legislation that would allow newlyweds to apply for temporary marriage licenses, instead of making the plunge into wedded life a lifetime commitment.

The change to civil code was proposed this week and would allow couples to decide the length of the commitment, with two years as the minimum. If couples are still enjoying wedded bliss when the contract ends, then they would be able to renew the license. And if they’re unhappy, the contract expires and they are both free without going through a divorce.

The legislation has proved to be controversial in Mexico, the country with the second largest Catholic population in world, after Brazil.

A vote is expected on the proposed legislation by the end of the year.

Nearly 7,000-year-old city unearthed

Nearly 7,000-year-old city unearthed

28 September 2011, Wednesday

Archaeologists announced the discovery of an ancient settlement on the shores of the Dardanelles yesterday, estimating that the recently unearthed ruins may be roughly 7,000 years old.

If true, such claims would make the settlement one of the oldest in the region, outdating even the ancient city of Troy, an ancient center of Mediterranean trade. Rüstem Aslan, assistant president of the Troy Excavation Committee, stated that the ruins are located near the town of Erenköy in Çanakkale province, and lamented that the slowly rising sea level has already claimed as much as 90 percent of the site. Extensive ruins of the city nonetheless remain, and archaeologists have uncovered pottery and other artifacts that hint the city may have once been an ancient trade hub.

Aslan explained that the discovery of the settlement will be a crucial piece in interpreting the Dardanelles’ prehistoric past, about which archaeologists still know very little.

A Dutch political leader says that liberal politicians are facilitating the spread of Islamic holy war

September 30, 2011

The Dutch political leader, Geert Wilders, addressing the British House of Lords told them that liberal political leaders are facilitating the spread of Islamic jihad, Islamic holy war, because they consider Islam as being equal to the culture of the West. Wilders believes that Islam is not compatible with the Western way of life and is a threat to the West – Islam and freedom, Islam and democracy are not compatible – Islam wants to dominate all aspects of life from the cradle to the grave.

Wilders has a film that warns the world of Islam’s desire to set up a caliphate, a worldwide kingdom under Islam and holy war as the means to that end.

Jimmy’s Prophetic Prospective on the News

The spread of radical Islam with the help of liberal politicians is setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

Today one in every four people on the earth are of the Islamic faith and that number is increasing daily. There are several voices in our world that are shouting out a warning to humankind to be alert to the global designs of Islam. One such voice is that of the Dutch politician Geert Wilders who with his documentary film and lectures around the world, is warning the world that there may be moderate Moslems, the people of Islam, but there is no moderate Islam, the religion. Wilders says that the Islamic holy book, the Koran, calls for a worldwide kingdom under the god of Islam, Allah, and Islamic jihad, holy war, as the means to reaching that goal.

Bible prophecy itself calls for a worldwide kingdom under Jesus Christ, the holy One of the Holy Bible. In fact, God made a promise to King David many years ago that that would happen. It is called the Davidic Covenant recorded in II Samuel 7. The Bible says that there will be a kingdom headquartered in Jerusalem (Zechariah 6:12-13) and it will last for 1000 years (Revelation 20:4-6). The Bible actually contradicts the Koran. The Koran says that the Islamic god Allah had no son. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the coming King of the worldwide kingdom.

The liberal politicians helping the spread of Islam is indeed helping to set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

Russian aircraft carrier to carry out exercises in Med Sea

Russian aircraft carrier to carry out exercises in Med Sea

Friday, September 30, 2011

Russia is sending its northern fleet led by the country’s only aircraft carrier, the “Admiral Kuznetsov,” to the Mediterranean Sea for exercises, daily Hürriyet reported on its website Thursday.

The Kuznetsov will sail the waters in the Barents Sea for a week and carry out drills there first, the report said.

The carrier will then start a three-month voyage to the Mediterranean Sea via the Northeast Atlantic. It will be joined by anti-submarine ship “Admiral Chabanenko” and other vessels.

It was not yet decided which ports the ships would visit but it was possible that the fleet could take part in military exercises with fleets of other countries in the region while it is in the Mediterranean.

The last time the Admiral Kuznetsov sailed in Mediterranean waters was in the winter of 2008-2009, when it visited ports in Turkey and Syria.
